Terms and conditions:

Responsibility & Safety

At Feral Hearts, the welfare and safety of clients, dogs, staff members, and the public is taken seriously. During all training sessions, walks, classes, and group activities, owners remain fully responsible for their dog and their dog’s behaviour at all times, including any injury, loss, damage, or costs caused to people, animals, property, or equipment.

Dogs must attend wearing suitable, secure equipment appropriate for their size and behaviour. This includes a well-fitted collar or harness attached to a strong, non-retractable lead unless otherwise agreed by your trainer. Leads must not be removed without prior permission from the trainer.

Any damage or injury caused by your dog remains your responsibility.

Health and behaviour

Dogs attending sessions must be physically fit and healthy. Owners agree not to attend training if their dog is showing signs of contagious illness, vomiting, diarrhoea, untreated parasites, infectious disease, or any condition that may place other dogs or people at risk.

Owners are responsible for informing Feral Hearts of any medical conditions, pain concerns, injuries, behavioural history, or changes in behaviour that may affect training or safety.

You must inform Feral Hearts of:

  • Any bite history

  • Aggressive or reactive behaviour

  • Medical conditions or injuries

  • Pain concerns

  • Medication changes

  • Previous behavioural incidents

Failure to disclose relevant behavioural or medical history may result in services being terminated immediately without refund.

In season females are welcome to join as usual. Please just let me know ahead of time so I can make any adjustments that are necessary.

Training Methods

Feral Hearts may use a variety of training methods, handling techniques, management strategies, training aids, and behaviour modification approaches depending on the dog and situation. Our priority is using methods we believe are fair, effective, ethical, and appropriate for the individual dog. If you choose not to follow trainer guidance or recommended training plans, results may be affected and Feral Hearts accepts no responsibility for this.

Owners are expected to follow instructions during sessions. Failure to do so may result in training being stopped immediately if safety, welfare, or session quality is compromised.

All 4 quadrants of operant conditioning may be used in your dogs training, please speak to your trainer if you have any questions.

Owner Participation & Behaviour

Owners are expected to follow trainer guidance during sessions and participate respectfully and safely. Failure to follow safety instructions may result in the session being paused or terminated if necessary for the welfare of people or dogs involved.

Feral Hearts reserves the right to end or refuse services immediately without refund if:

  • Safety becomes a concern

  • Instructions are repeatedly ignored

  • Aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour occurs

  • Important information has been withheld

  • Your dog presents an unmanaged risk beyond what was disclosed

If your dog injures another dog, person, trainer, or stooge dog due to withheld information, negligence, or failure to follow instructions, you may be held financially responsible for resulting costs.

Session Length & Scheduling

Sessions are booked for allocated time slots. Occasionally, sessions may end early if the dog becomes overwhelmed, tired, unwell, or unable to continue safely or productively.

Where appropriate, trainers may choose to reschedule or split remaining session time, though this is at the discretion of Feral Hearts.

Right to Refuse or End Services

Feral Hearts reserves the right to refuse, pause, or terminate services at any time if:

  • Safety becomes a concern

  • Welfare concerns arise

  • Owners behave aggressively or inappropriately

  • Information has been withheld that significantly affects risk or safety

  • The trainer believes continuing is not in the best interests of the dog, client, or others involved

Where sessions are cancelled by Feral Hearts, alternative arrangements or rescheduling will be discussed where possible.

Training Outcomes

Dog training and behaviour modification are influenced by many factors, including health, genetics, environment, consistency, and owner implementation. As a result, no specific outcome or timescale can be guaranteed.

Training is a gradual process and requires ongoing owner involvement outside of sessions.

Liability

By booking services with Feral Hearts clients acknowledge the inherent risks involved in working with animals and agree to participate at their own risk.

Nothing within these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so under applicable law.
